Thimble clevis is used in guying and dead-ending applications to be the interface connection fitting used in attaching guy wire, conductor, wire grips or dead-end bails to eye type fittings of insulators, eye bolts, and pole eye plates.

The thimble can prevent stress concentration by providing a smooth internal contour within the loop of a preformed dead-end. The Clevis has a steel pin that links it through the eye of an insulator and secures it with a humpbacked cotter key.

If an insulator needs removal, replacement, or similar maintenance, removing the cotter key and steel pin is enough to release the clevis.
